…we pride ourselves on it is accuracy during the installations, we are strong believers that above all else a well installed tank and a tidy site is the aim of the game. It is so easy during a tank installation to take short cuts that could easily turn into a rather disastrous result.
A few sites we have had to visit in the past have been victims of a poor installation and we have been tasked with tidying up the mess made of shoddy groundworks.
Here are a few of the main examples of what can go wrong:
• Having the incorrect levels for the tank install and installing a gravity system when an IPS is needed; as water always finds its level having the wrong specification of system installed can be an expensive and time consuming mistake after all it’s not only a pump that will need fitting but all of the pipework on the outlet will need replacing with MDPE.
• The tank not being level, if the tank is on a slant this will disrupt the treatment process and may actually damage the external casing on the tank as uneven amounts of pressure will be on one side.
• Failing to ballast the tank with water can cause the vessel to slip inside the excavation and as it is being backfilled more pressure will be put on the casing without the counter pressure of the water and causing the structural integrity to be compromised.
• Using the wrong backfill material, as I have preached to the choir previously we always recommend that your new tank is installed in a C25 OPC Dry concrete mix, using the wrong slump or wrong material can once again cause the tank to rotate or as a worst case scenario pop out of the ground!
At a recent site in North Yorkshire our installation team were spot on in their work, checking the levels, consistency in materials and specification, not to mention there is a level of craftsmanship to the excavation we have full confidence that should this system be regularly maintained it will live out its full lifespan parring any extreme circumstances.
