Making Our Stamp!
Thursday, 26 April 2018
Over the last year we, as a company, appear to have made our mark on a certain group of properties in Cumbria. A number of residents have all contacted us on separate occasions to ask for us to quote. So far we have installed new systems for 3 of the properties and another one booked to be installed later in the year.
The topography of the land in this area has proven to be a rather complicated yet interesting challenge. For one property we were constantly battling against solid bedrock then on a property just across the road was in clay and the installation went swiftly and smoothly.
The most recent of the installations was to replace a Septic tank with a package sewage treatment plant, this was a necessary move as the Septic tank was in fact discharging directly to the nearby stream. By now the majority of you are probably aware of the new legislation that requires all Septic tanks that are currently discharging to a watercourse be replaced with a Sewage treatment plant or diverted to a soakaway before 2020.
We proposed to install the new system in the top section of the garden to run parallel with the property boundary. As the new tank we proposed to install was a Klargester BioFicient 1 package treatment plant we opted to reconnect to the existing outfall pipe, the effluent quality from this system means this installation will be in compliance with the new regulations.
As we were unsure of the ground conditions before we started the job we anticipated that we would require the use of a breaker to chip away at any bedrock and arranged one to be delivered for the engineers to use if required. However Murphy’s Law, this was not required and the ground conditions were remarkably good, although you certainly won’t find us complaining as this considerably sped up the installation process.
We never know what ground conditions await us on site, we can only anticipate depending on the experiences we have had in the area previously.
Once the installation was complete we finished the works to a machine finish, laying 4 tonne of top soil so it is ready to be landscaped by others to the customer’s satisfaction.
We have obviously made quite the impression on this small village and hope this speaks for itself with our workmanship. If you would like any information on the services we can provide why not give us a call on 01388 537030.
