Meet the Vento and Puraflo! A new kind of install in North Lanarkshire
Friday, 10 August 2018
Every now and again we get the opportunity to do a job that is something a bit different, and this one was no exception. Our contracts manager Chris Brand attended a site to provide a quotation for a commercial site with an estimated 5 persons using the facilities.
For this development we recommended the installation of a Tricel Vento 6 3,000 litre septic tank with a discharge via a pump station to a single module Puraflo system. As these tanks are not something we install on a regular basis it was a new experience for our installation team.
However Chris was on hand with plentiful background experience in Tricel, he was able to utilise this knowledge to aid the installation process. The Tricel Vento septic tanks are made from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) which ensures it is both durable and lightweight. The construction of the tank also makes it low profile and allows for a smaller excavation.
The Vento septic tank is installed much alike its Klargester (Kingspan) and Conder (Premier Tech Aqua) equivalents. The tank is surrounded in a suitable dry mix concrete to ensure there is no risk of ground movement putting excessive pressure on the system and causing the structural integrity to be compromised.
The Puraflo system on the other hand was something a bit different! Not ones to shy away from something new to install we motored on and accepted the challenge. The Puraflo modules are a secondary treatment kit installed after the initial septic tank (the septic tank must be fitted with an appropriate effluent filter).
These tanks are to be installed on a bed of clean granular material above the water table. Unlike a lot of tanks we install these are slightly above ground which is not to everyone’s preference but for this site in particular it was an ideal low impact option for discharge.
The Puraflo essentially acts in a similar manner to a soakaway, only with a minimal amount of space being required to install them.
As with all of our installation we took pride in ensuring it was installed to the highest standard and although it was still a building site upon completion we hope you will agree the installation was neat and tidy.
Although for the majority of sites we do install Conder and Klargester tanks we are not adverse to installation alternatives should the site require something a little more bespoke or have different requirements.
