RA Dalton was appointed to deliver a custom wastewater solution for a residential property previously connected to a shared drainage system. The homeowner requested a summer installation, aiming to disconnect from the communal setup and establish a dedicated treatment system that meets modern standards and building control regulations.

This project required careful planning to respect the boundaries and infrastructure of neighbouring properties. Our team developed a bespoke drainage navigation strategy, ensuring minimal disruption while complying with all regulatory requirements.

To begin, RA Dalton provided:

• Comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to cover the proposed works
• Full site setup, including temporary fencing and a portable toilet for our installation team
• Coordination of site machinery delivery and fuelling, ensuring operational efficiency

Due to site constraints, the treatment plant was installed in the front garden, in line with building control compliance. A Clearwater vessel was selected for its reliability and performance, and was installed within a concrete encasement as per the manufacturer’s specifications.

Key installation components included:

• 47 metres of 110mm inlet pipework from the property to the treatment plant
• Four new inlet inspection chambers for system monitoring and maintenance
• One outlet sample point to support ongoing compliance checks
• 4 metres of 110mm outfall pipework, carefully routed across the neighbour’s garden to reach the culvert
• Installation of a bottle gully to manage surface water effectively

RA Dalton managed the entire Building Notice Application, covering:

• Site inspections
• Provision of completion certificates

Once installation was complete, the system was fully commissioned, ensuring optimal performance and long-term reliability.
