Collaborative Wastewater Servicing With Universal Tankers: Multi-System Maintenance Across Single Site
In this recent project, our engineers partnered with Universal Tankers to carry out comprehensive servicing and emptying of three distinct sewage treatment systems located within the same site: a Kee DN4 BioDisc, a Conder sewage treatment system and an old Klargester BioDisc.
One Site, Three Systems – One Seamless Service
Each system required a tailored approach to maintain optimal performance and prevent future breakdowns, showcasing our ability to deliver comprehensive multi-system servicing in a single visit.
System 1: Kee DN4 BioDisc – Visitors Centre
Service Overview:
Our engineer arrived on site to meet Universal Tankers and begin the service of the Kee DN4 BioDisc. The primary balance tank had developed a significant crust, while the disc itself was relatively clean with healthy bacterial growth. The final humus tank appeared clean and functioning well.
Step-by-Step Breakdown:
- Bearings inspected and grease cartridges replaced
- U-clamps and buckets checked – all in good condition
- Junction boxes and electrical connections verified – no issues found
- Motor gearbox inspected – operating correctly
- Sludge pump pulled, checked for blockages and tested – fully functional
- Control panel and warning devices tested – all operating as expected
- Tank fully emptied in collaboration with Universal Tankers
Outcome:
This service ensured the mechanical integrity and electrical reliability of the Kee DN4 BioDisc, supporting continued efficient wastewater treatment at the Visitors Centre.
System 2: Conder Sewage Treatment System – The Courtyard
The Conder system was operating within expected parameters, with correct water levels and active aeration in the treatment zones. The final settlement tank was clean and functioning well.
Step-by-Step Breakdown:
- Sludge pump pulled, checked for blockages and tested – operating correctly
- Diffusers and airlines inspected – all in good condition
- Blowers serviced – filters replaced, connections checked, both units running smoothly
- Junction box and panel connections verified – no faults detected
- Tank fully emptied with support from Universal Tankers
Outcome:
This service reinforced the aeration efficiency and mechanical reliability of the Conder system, ensuring continued compliance and environmental performance.
System 3: Klargester BioDisc – The Village
Service Overview:
The old Klargester BioDisc was found to be in good working order, with correct water levels, a light crust in the primary tank and a clean disc and final settlement zone.
Step-by-Step Breakdown:
- Bearings checked and grease cartridges replaced
- Sprockets and chain inspected – all in good condition
- Motor gearbox and electrical connections verified – no issues found
- Sludge pumps pulled, tested and refitted – both operating correctly
- Sludge timer and power supply breaker checked – functioning as expected
- Tank left running as it should
Recommendation:
This system operates on a different emptying rota than the other two systems. We recommend continued monitoring and scheduled servicing to maintain performance.
Benefits Delivered:
✅ Restored mechanical integrity across all systems
✅ Improved operational efficiency and flow consistency
✅ Reduced risk of emergency callouts and component failure
✅ Extended lifespan of key mechanical and electrical parts
✅ Full compliance with wastewater treatment standards
