No cause for concern – The Klargester BioAir

There is no question that having a new sewage treatment plant installation can be a daunting experience and we will always try to address any of our customer’s concerns and try to limit any disturbance on site. These concerns are usually for a variety of issues which include change in responsibilities as a tenant/ homeowner or the amount of anticipated disturbance whilst the installation takes place.

As a company we always look to address any of these concerns prior to our start on site and try to limit any upheaval caused by the works being undertaken. We are always open to answer any queries in relation to the process and what to expect from your new system being installed.

Septic tank to Sewage treatment plant

As part of a larger contract for a property manager we were asked to look at installing new compliant wastewater systems to suit a group of properties, each of these houses had a septic tank installed which was either discharging directly to the watercourse or to a failed pit soakaway.

Therefore, our proposal was to install a new sewage treatment plant at each property with the aim of either discharging to the watercourse when possible or discharging to a newly constructed drainage field within the property boundary.

Wastewater responsibilities

This change brought some changes to the expectations of the residents at each of the properties; having upgraded from a septic tank to a sewage treatment plant these units require an electrical supply for the blower to allow the aerobic treatment process to take place. This is essential to be compliant with the 2020 General Binding Rules.

This means that the system needs a constant electrical supply, and any down time will need to be addressed, these units do also require servicing and emptying in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Whilst it is the responsibility of the treatment plant owner to ensure that this is done in line with the expectations R A Dalton can offer a full service package meaning we let you know when the system is due!

The Nature of groundworks

Another concern we regularly have to address is the visual upheaval of having a new treatment plant installed, it is without question that having a 5-ton Excavator and 3-ton Dumper in your garden will leave some evidence of its presence following the completion of the works however our teams will always try their best to limit the disturbance.

One property in this group raised this as a particular concern of theirs as they had recently undertaken landscaping works in their garden and were understandably very house proud!

In order to try keep the impact to a minimum we used ground protection boards to track the machinery through the garden, for any of the trench work the lawn was carefully lifted and reinstated where possible and the tank installation location was levels to a tidy machine finish and with excavate spoil levelled around the area.

Once the work was complete the residents could do nothing more than sing our team’s praises about the quality of their workmanship and how impressed they were with the reinstatement works.
