Tailor made connection to mains sewer

All works carried out by R A Dalton are tailor made to suit the individual site requirements, more often than not we provide a complete package installation from the initial enquiry all the way through to future maintenance. However, we do also receive enquiries from customers in varying stages of their projects.

Following a recent enquiry that we received from a property owner who was in the process of applying for a connection to mains sewer within private property we were asked to assist with some elements of the application process and to provide the groundworks element of the works.

Section 106 – Connection to mains sewer

Within the proposed scope of work, we identified two sides to the project: the foul drainage and storm water. Once the Section 106 was approved from the local water authority we were able to proceed with the installation.

The storm/ roof water drainage from the property was to be consolidated from 3 sides of the property and to collect into one outfall pipe, this would then run approximately 50 metres to the nearby watercourse. Along this line we were also required to install a number of change of direction manholes to divert around the property.

The foul aspect of the work required the installation of a new crude package pump station, this was designed to suit the single dwelling with sufficient capacity should site experience any issues with power or pump failure.

Section 50 not required

Our site team installed approximately 30 metres of foul inlet drainage from the property to a new inlet inspection chamber, here we installed the new 900mm diameter x 2-metre-deep package pump station, the outfall to the connection location was some 80 metres away and the 63mm Black MDPE pipework was installed through the private property.

A demarcation chamber within the property bounds was installed to slow the flow before the connection was made, as all of the works were undertaken within private land there was no requirement for any works within the highway and therefore a section 50 was not required.

Once the connection point had been inspected and signed off we were able to backfill the excavation and commission the new package pump station ensuring the property was all ready to go just in time for Christmas!
